NATD EXAMS
ABOUT THE NATD
We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) UK, a prestigious dance examination body recognized by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA).
This partnership will allow BallroomBees’ students to earn accreditation from official UK examiners. We offer 2 exams: Rainbow awards (3-8 Yrs) & Pre Bronze 1 & 2 (8+ Yrs).
BallroomBees will review each student's application and submit them to the NATD and the HKEAA.
Examinations entries must be presented by members of HKBDC. No individual candidates are allowed to submit entries themselves. The HKEAA will email examination information to all eligible teachers approved by the HKBDC before the registration starts.
To qualify for these examinations, students will need to be enrolled in our BallroomBees program. For those who wish to go to the higher levels we recommend to join our Bee-a-Champion classes.
The examinations will take place in person by examiners from the UK.

RAINBOW AWARDS
FOR STUDENTS 3 - 8 YEARS OLD

Candidate should achieve the following seven colors in order to complete each RAINBOW AWARDS.
Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red
POPULAR SOCIAL DANCE TEST
FOR STUDENTS 7 YEARS OLD & ABOVE
- Transition test between Rainbow and Pre-Bronze for students to gain confidence and prepare them for higher awards
- Any student of age can take the Popular Social Dance Test
- Awards available:
- PSDT 1 - one dance
- PSDT 2 - two dance
- PSDT 3 - three dance
PRE-BRONZE | 1 & 2
FOR STUDENTS 8 - 12 YEARS OLD ; SOLO OR WITH A PARTNER
PRE-BRONZE 1: 2 (two) Ballroom or Latin dances
PRE-BRONZE 2: 2 (two) Ballroom or Latin dances (Advanced technical skills)

EXAMINATION DATES AND FEES
All fees paid are non-refundable, non-transferrable from one examination to another or one candidate to another
- There are 7 colors for the rainbow awards and can take up to 7 terms to complete the entire rainbow. Completing the rainbow is not a requirement - you do not need to take all 7 colors
- There is a fee of $634 per certificate for any amendments of personal particulars
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

You must be available on OCTOBER 25 & 26

Exam date and time will be issued 2 weeks before exam and CANNOT be changed.

After your registration, BallroomBees will review the application and send payment request.

Once payment for the registration is confirmed, BallroomBees will submit the student to the NATD and HKEAA to set an exam date and time.

Exam Uniform Requirements: Students should wear standard BallroomBees uniform and dance shoes for the Exam
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS UPON REGISTRATION
During registration please upload a valid identification document (passport/ ID card).
Examples of acceptable identification document(s):
Hong Kong I.D. card with Photo; or
Hong Kong I.D. card / Birth Certificate without Photo PLUS Student Handbook / Student Card with Photo; or
Valid Passport; or
Valid HKSAR Document of Identity (簽證身份書) ; or
Valid HKSAR Re-entry Permit (回港證) ; or
Valid Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (回鄉卡) ; or
Valid Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau (往來港澳通行證)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What is the NATD?
A. The National Association of Teachers of Dancing NATD is a prestigious dance examination body recognized by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA).
Q. Who is eligible to register for exams?
A. Registered term students above the age of 3 and can dance independently without parent in the room.
Q. What does my child need to wear for exam?
A. Full BallroomBees uniform including dance shoes.
Q. Which exam should my child register for?
A. If your child is under 8, she is eligible for the Rainbow Awards. For students over 8 years old they are eligible for Pre-Bronze 1 awards Popular Social Dance Test also available for those 7 years old and above
Q. How can my child prepare for the exam?
A. All examination dances will be taught in class. We will also send videos to all registered students so they can practice at home should they choose to.
Q. Will my child dance alone?
A. There will be a teacher in the room to prompt them or dance with them (depending on which exam you are registered for).
Q. When will we receive examination results?
A. Results will be issued by HKEAA 3 months after exam date
Q. What if I am not free on that date?
A. Examination dates are set by HKEAA and cannot be changed
Q. How will I know which colour to register for the Rainbow Awards?
A. Colours will need to be taken in order of: Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red
Q. Can my child take more than one Rainbow exam?
A. Special approval is required for any request to take more than one color for each examination date and will be assessed based on age, reason, ability.
Q. My child is 7 years old, which exam should my child register for?

Q. My child is in Super/MightyBees and above 8-years old, does he/she need to sign up for Bee-A-Champion classes for exams?
A. The dance routines for the Pre-Bronze exams are covered in the BEE-A-Champion classes, you will need to sign up for Bee-A-Champion classes to be able to take the examinations.
